A Scots dad diagnosed with MND just three days into lockdown after choking on food had symptoms for a year before the heartbreaking news.Neil Lennox was just 62 when he died two days after Christmas in a hospice after suffering for years with the cruel disease.Distraught wife Lynda described seeing her husband deteriorate through MND as ‘brutal’ and ‘cruel', and has left his four children devastated, reports Edinburgh Live.Lynda said: “Neil grew up in the Borders but he studied business in Edinburgh before becoming a chartered accountant and then finance director with Deloitte.“We moved to Balerno after we got married in 2000 and as a family, we were very involved with the community.

Neil was on the gala committee and we were always active with things like the PTA.”His daughter Emma who plans to run the Edinburgh marathon with her siblings in memory of their dad told of the difficult years following his diagnosis.She said: “It was three days after lockdown in March 2020 that he was diagnosed with MND but he had had symptoms for about a year.“He was coughing and choking on his food.

When he was swallowing stuff it was catching in his throat and his speech began to slur but he put it down to his high blood pressure tablets.“It took a lot of persuading him to go to the doctors but the diagnosis was very quick.

Normally it can take years to get a diagnosis but it took him only three months.“It was a difficult time for the family as we could not see anyone due to the restrictions and Michael was living in Edinburgh with his pregnant partner.
