Following a day of stormy gale force winds, parts of Scotland will be subject to icy patches this weekend. The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for ice on Sunday February 19 from midnight until later in the morning.
Rain and hill snow are predicted for the northwest this Saturday evening, while showers are set further north. These conditions will likely leave surfaces wet overnight, which may progress into ice on untreated surfaces.
Drivers are being urged to take caution as roads may be more slippy than usual, while pedestrians should also be cautious on footpaths and other untreated surfaces.Elsewhere today, the south of the country will see some mild drizzle which will slowly clear into sunny intervals while most of the country will see cloudy skies.
Sunday will bring dry and mild spells across central and southern areas, while rain will continue in the far north and northwest, paired with scattered gale winds. The latest alert comes after Scotland was battered by Storm Otto on Friday, which resulted in school closures, power outages and even crushed cars.
