Choosing a name for your newborn can be a time-consuming task - some parents like to find a moniker that carries significance, sounds pretty, and importantly, won't become a source of ridicule in later years.Unfortunately, it seems one American couple may have skipped this careful contemplation when naming their daughter.

Adding fuel to the fire, they publicised the moniker on a huge birth announcement sign, prompting an uproar online. The sign triumphantly declared: "Welcome to the world Annaly, 7lbs 10oz."Annaly is an Irish derivative of the female name Anna, as reported by nicebabyname.com, and suggests 'grace' or 'light', and is a variation on the name Annaleigh.

Yet to the amusement of some, the spelling variation of the name sounds like something quite rude. One amused commenter said: "Not the traditional way to give birth, but I guess to each their own! " In a similar vein, another added: "I've never heard of a baby being born that way before.."One person teased: "This is my other daughter, Orally," while yet another replied: "You joke, but I've 100% seen the name 'Oralee' before.

I think people were trying to go for 'Aurelie.'".Another concerned commenter remarked: "That poor kid's gonna get so mercilessly bullied..." While yet another criticised the decision stating the baby was "doomed" and one went as far as saying: "That name is a hate crime."However, another individual couldn't see the issue with the name, which would be pronounced like 'Anna Lee'.
