Lanarkshire residents are being encouraged to show a little love for their liver in a bid to detect hepatitis C earlier.The silent condition can lead to severe liver complications but remains undiagnosed in around half of the people who have it in Scotland.Hepatitis C is a virus which, if not treated, over many years can lead to cirrhosis or liver cancer.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Lack of knowledge and understanding about the virus, including its transmission and available treatment options, contributes to this alarming statistic.More than nine in 10 people with hepatitis C can now get rid of the virus by taking tablets.

Most people have no side effects from treatment.To address this issue head-on, the Love Your Liver mobile unit will stop at 10 high footfall locations in Lanarkshire over the next three months, to find those people who have been exposed to the hepatitis C virus.Visitors to the unit will have
