Rioter who said he 'wanted to support bereaved families' caught setting police van on fire on TikTok video

A TikTok video has led to the capture of an arsonist who was seen sitting "casually" on a fountain and watching as a police van he set alight burned.

Declan Geiran joined a violent "mob" that wreaked havoc in Liverpool city centre last Saturday, hurling bricks and debris at police officers amidst widespread disorder.

Geiran stated he attended the protests "to show his support for the bereaved families" after the recent tragic killings of children Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice Dasilva Aguiar in Southport.

However, on Wednesday a judge cited Geiran's recent conviction for "threatening to come and get a woman and her children" and quipped: "That is the sort of brave and principled man you are."
