ok.co.ukRapper Lil Tay has sadly died "unexpectedly" at just 14 years old, as her family confirmed the "devastating" news with a statement about their loss.
The teen star and social media favourite, whose real name is Claire Hope, died alongside her older brother, and the family are dealing with an unimaginable tragedy.
Sharing the news in a statement online, Lil Tay's family members wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire's sudden and tragic passing. "We have no words to express the unbearable loss indescribable pain.This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock." The statement went on to say that the family are suffering even more after the death of Claire's brother, but they are unable to speak further about what happened as there is still an investigation into what happened. "Her brother's passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief," the message read. "During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother's passing are still under investigation. "Claire will forever remain in our hearts, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her," the statement added.
Claire's brother Jason Tian sadly also passed away at the age of 21. Fans flocked to Twitter and Instagram to share their heartbreak over the news, as many grieved the rising star bound for an incredibly bright future. "I’m sad I miss Lil Tay already," one fan wrote.
