Proposals for giant windfarm near New Cumnock are given the green light by Scottish Ministers

Windfarm bosses behind a plan to erect 16 turbines that will soar almost 150m into the Ayrshire skyline have spoken of their delight that the proposals can now go ahead.Their application for a wind farm and battery storage facility on land west of New Cumnock, East Ayrshire has been granted consent by Scottish Ministers.The site lies on a former coal mine.Now permission has been granted to REG Greenburn Limited to construct and operate Greenburn Wind Park for the next 35 years.Located approximately 4.5 km to the west of New Cumnock, the wind park comprises 16 turbines with a capacity of 67.2MW, tip heights of 149.9 metres and a battery storage facility of 10MW, to help create a more flexible grid system.
