Police release statement on 'malicious communications' after schools locked down across Manchester

A number of schools across Manchester were put into 'lockdown' today after what police called 'malicious communications' were sent to them.

The M.E.N. has seen an email understood to be from a primary school in Wythenshawe sent to parents of pupils. It said the school received 'a threat in an email this morning', and went on to say other schools in the Manchester area did as well.

Multiple schools in Chorlton have emailed parents to inform them about the 'lockdown' and reassure them that children are safe.

The M.E.N. has seen emails from Oswald Road Primary School and Kenwood nursery. At Oswald Road Primary, 'all external doors have been locked'.
