Andy Webster thanks St Mirren and talks up club's 'proven record' of producing young players after joining Hearts

St Mirren Youth Academy coach Andy Webster has left the Buddies to return to former club Hearts. Webster initially joined Saints as a player in 2015 before taking on a coaching role in Paisley following his retirement in 2017.

Working alongside academy boss Allan McManus, Webster took his first steps in his coaching development at the Buddies as head of pro phase where he worked with the club’s development and Under-18 squads.Having joined Hearts yesterday as their new academy manager, McManus described Webster as one of the most dedicated professionals he’s come across in football.He said: “I’d like to wish Andrew good luck as he moves on to the next part of his journey.“He has been one of the most dedicated professionals I have worked with and become a good friend. “It has been a pleasure to work with Andrew and everyone at St Mirren wishes him the very best in his future.” Speaking to Hearts TV, Webster thanked the Saints for their support and paid tribute to their excellent record of bringing through young players into the first team.He said: "Regarding St Mirren, I really appreciate what they've done for me over the period I was there, having played and then moved into the coaching side."The football club was great to me, especially the academy.
