A dispersal order has been put in place around a church in Stockport after a man was attacked. The Section 35 order will come into place at 2pm today (Friday) for an area around St John's Church in Heaton Mersey.

It gives police the power to make people leave the area or not enter it for 48 hours. This follows a 'serious incident' yesterday, police said.

Officers added that a man was believed to have been attacked following a 'concern for welfare' report.
