Police confirm what was inside 'bomb' found near Meadowhall
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA suspected bomb near Meadowhall turned out to be just an empty shell, the police have said. On Sunday, police were called to the scene at about 3pm after a member of the public thought they saw a bomb in the river near Meadowhall in Sheffield.
Officers closed the roads around Meadowhall Way from Meadowhall Drive to Meadowhall Road until 7pm. A bomb disposal team came and took the suspected bomb.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to Meadowhall Way in Sheffield at 2.57pm yesterday (Sunday 25 February) to reports that a suspected historic explosive device had been discovered in the river by a member of the public." She also said: "A bomb disposal team attended and took the device away, which was found to be an empty shell."
