Police arrest man after driver flees scene of horror BMW crash
manchestereveningnews.co.ukPolice have arrested a man after a driver fled the scene of a horror BMW crash in Whalley Range. Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision, where a white BMW had been ploughed into a lamppost, narrowly missing a pedestrian.
Officers closed off Wilbraham Road, outside Whalley Range High School, at around 4pm on Tuesday (February 14). Pictures from the scene show the car with a completely crushed bonnet.
The lamppost had also toppled over and landed on top of the car, smashing the rear window. Footage previously shared by the Manchester Evening News showed how the driver narrowly missed hitting a pedestrian before smashing into the street light. However, later on Tuesday evening, at around 6pm, Greater Manchester Police said officers arrested a 27-year-old male on suspicion of driving with no licence or insurance.
