Social Security Scotland recently announced that more people in receipt of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will start moving to the new Adult Disability Payment (ADP) over the coming months.
The devolved benefit provides the same financial support as the DWP for people living in Scotland between 16 and State Pension age, who are disabled, have a long-term health condition or have a terminal illness.
Those already receiving PIP or Disability Living Allowance (DLA) do not need to apply for ADP as the migration process is automatic.
The transfer process is being done in phases and takes between 13 to 17 weeks to complete, however, Social Security Scotland has announced that existing claimants should continue to report any “changes to their health condition, mobility or care needs” to the DWP as this “may start the case transfer” process.
