More than 81,000 people in receipt of Carer’s Allowance received an extra payment for £245.70 in December 2022 as part of a unique benefit only available in Scotland.

Carer’s Allowance Supplement is a devolved payment delivered twice each year to eligible claimants. Even though Carer’s Allowance is a benefit delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the supplement is administered by Social Security Scotland, on behalf of the Scottish Government.

The payment has increased to £270.50 this year and will be made automatically to people who are in receipt of the benefit on two specific qualifying dates throughout the year.

To be eligible for the June payment, people will need to have made a claim for Carer’s Allowance to DWP by Monday, April 10, 2023.
