Revelers at the annual convention of movie theater owners were delighted by the mogul’s cameo at Tuesday’s presentation from Warner Bros.

Pictures. Winfrey is a producer on the studio’s upcoming movie musical “The Color Purple,” based on the 1985 Steven Spielberg classic in which the former daytime host starred. “‘The Color Purple,’ in 1985 was the biggest and most important thing that happened to me.

This is a full circle moment to be part of this film. It holds great personal meaning,” Winfrey told the crowd. Appearing with director Blitz Bazawule, the pair showed the first footage ever screened from the project — a rousing and lush production particularly showcased femme fatal Taraji P.

CinemaCon. “The Flash,” the DC Comics superhero adventure starring Ezra Miller, played to a mostly enthusiastic audience at the annual convention of movie theater owners in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening. In the lead-up to the debut, executives at Warner Bros. and DC touted “The Flash” as “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.” It may not have cleared those stratospheric expectations (there was a little film called “The Dark Knight,” after all), but the finished product elicited plenty of cheers, laughs and maybe a few tears in the room at Caesars Palace. That said, CinemaCon is hardly the Cannes Film Festival. The audience at the Colosseum, filled with movie theater owners from across the globe, is one with a vested interest in the success of the blockbuster-hopeful. But showcasing “The Flash” in this capacity is yet another sign of Warner Bros.’ passionate support of the project, one that has been plagued over the years with controversies surrounding Miller, as well as myriad director shake-ups, COVID-19 delays and a regime change at the studio and at DC. CinemaCon marked the first screening of “The Flash” ahead of its theatrical debut on June 16.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Jensen Ackles, Danneel Ackles, and their production company Chaos Machine are entering a first-look TV deal at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively. The Ackles and Chaos Machine were previously under a first-look deal at Warner Bros. Television. It was reported in October 2022 that they had extended the WBTV deal for another two years, but they have now exited that deal for Amazon. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the Ackles and WBTV parted ways on good terms and any projects Chaos Machine had in development with their now former studio home remain in the works. The WBTV deal was solely a producing deal, while the Amazon deal covers both acting and producing.
