A former North Lanarkshire provost has resigned as a councillor with immediate effect.The SNP’s Agnes Magowan, who represented the Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig ward, tendered her resignation on Monday and a by-election to replace her will be contested in the coming months.A North Lanarkshire Council spokesperson said: “The chief executive received the resignation of Councillor Agnes Magowan, for the ward Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig on Monday 21 August 2023.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
