"Noisiest" Lanarkshire museum secures lottery funding for major upgrade

A Lanarkshire museum is set for a proposed multi-million pound upgrade creating major new attractions and “catapulting it into the major league” of national destinations.Summerlee Museum of Industrial Life has received lottery funding for the first phase of a development project aiming to expand its visitor experiences by creating a new immersive miners’ village and welfare hall.It could lead to a total investment of £6.4 million in the popular Coatbridge attraction, known as “Scotland’s noisiest museum” for its exhibits including working steam vehicles, trains and cranes.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
