Nivea has responded to warnings over a popular children's sun cream. Social media is awash with posts urging parents of children with nut allergies not to use the Nivea Sun Kids protect and care skin protection, which has 'almond oil' listed as one of the ingredients.
Schools and childminders are among those sharing the warning amid the potential risk posed to nut allergy sufferers. But Nivea has now responded and said 'there is no known food allergic potential'. Regular users of the cream say the addition of almond oil is something they've only recently spotted. Some have reported only having the scientific Latin name for the oil on the label - prunus amygdalus dulcis oil - rather than almond oil itself, depending on where the product is bought.
The alert from Allergy UK states: "We understand that products in the Nivea sun protection range for kids now include almond oil.
