Scottish Government officials blew public money on yoga classes, nail polish and driving tests during a time of public spending pressure.They also racked up a £5,000 bill at the five-star Gleneagles hotel, £272 on wellies and £24.99 for “heel stoppers” for an event involving Nicola Sturgeon.Part of the credit card data dump also shows around £25,000 of transactions were fraudulent.SNP Ministers have long complained about what they regard as stingy public spending settlements from Westminster.But a selection of the near 58,752 entries obtained by Labour and handed to the Daily Record has led to criticism.According to the data, the heel stoppers related to an event in Berlin for the former First Minister that involved “historic flooring”.Spending at Gleneagles, dubbed the ‘glorious playground’, included £4,182 for hospitality and accommodation for Scottish Women and Girls in Sport, as well as £856 of hospitality for a meeting with the UK Sports Minister.Two driving theory tests cost £37 each and the £65 yoga class was for the climate change division away day.Other payments included £10.50 for three bottles of nail polish, a £144 refund for a hoover and £27 for “paypal ebay homedisco”.This entry was described as: “Making Grampian a better team.”Taxpayers were also in the chair for a £349 Dyson and £36 for a branded government teeshirt for a bee inspector.The entries also reveal £25,397 in fraudulent transactions, many of which did not list the item purchased.Examples included £90.25 at Domino’s Pizza and £44.48 at Just Eat.Some entries were refunds for fraudulent transactions or classed as “fraud”.
