Neil Warnock has lifted the lid on the "Battle of Bramall Lane" between Sheffield United and West Brom 22 years ago as he prepares to face off against one of the players who was involved in the notorious clash – Derek McInnes. The two managers will meet for only the second time on the touchline this afternoon, as Aberdeen look to end a run of four league games without a win.
On March 16, 2002, the two were on opposing sides as the English Championship game between a Blades side managed by Warnock and a Baggies team skippered by McInnes, had to be abandoned due to the number of players left on the field.
After United keeper Simon Tracey saw red early on, West Brom raced into a 2-0 lead with McInnes firing home a superb second.
However the fixture then descended into madness, with Blades substitutes Georges Santos and Patrick Suffo were both sent off, with the latter's headbutt on future Dons boss McInnes requiring him to wear a bandage around his head for the remainder of the game.
