Natasha Lyonne Directing ‘Poker Face’ Season 2 Episode As Rian Johnson Kicks Off Filming
deadline.comNatasha Lyonne is back in the driver’s seat as her Peacock procedural Poker Face begins production on Season 2. Rian Johnson celebrated the the first day of filming the sophomore season on Monday, sharing a photo of the show’s clapboard, which listed Lyonne as the director for episode two. “Day one season two,” wrote Johnson on his Instagram Story.
Inspired by the inverted detective format of Columbo and similarly described by Johnson as a “howcatchem” (as opposed to the “whodunit” structure of Knives Out and Glass Onion), Poker Face follows Vegas casino worker and human bullshit detector Charlie Cale (Lyonne) as she runs from the mob while solving a string of murders along the way.
The star-studded series has featured such guest stars as Adrien Brody, Ron Perlman, Chloë Sevigny, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Clea DuVall, Dascha Polanco, Hong Chau, Megan Suri, Danielle Macdonald, Judith Light, Ellen Barkin, Tim Meadows, Jameela Jamil, Charles Melton, Rowan Blanchard and Rhea Perlman.
Lyonne, who also serves as a writer and executive producer on the show, previously directed the Season 1 episode ‘The Orpheus Syndrome’, which featured Nick Nolte, Luis Guzmán and Cherry Jones.
