Huw Edwards received indecent images of children from convicted paedophile
ok.co.ukThe individual who shared inappropriate images of children with disgraced presenter Huw Edwards has been identified as a 25 year old convicted paedophile.The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that Alex Williams, from Wales, pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing category A, B and C images, as well as possessing prohibited images of children.
He received a suspended 12-month jail sentence at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on 15 March. An investigation into Huw Edwards was initiated after a phone examined by officers in an unrelated case revealed the broadcaster's involvement in a WhatsApp conversation.
South Wales Police discovered the disturbing chat in which father-of-five Huw participated.The TV newsreader, who has been out of the public eye since stepping down from his role on News at Ten on 5 July 2023, appeared in Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 31 July.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of making 41 indecent images of children.The BBC issued a statement this evening regarding Huw's plea following his court appearance.
