A mum has turned to an online community for help ahead of spending Christmas with her frugal in-laws. She is concerned about returning to their home for the festive season this year after spending four days with "barely any food" last time they spent the festive season there.Despite her mother-in-law being wealthy, she refused to include vegetables with the sparse Christmas dinner - since she herself doesn't like them - and had very limited snacks and only used heating in certain rooms at certain times, Birmingham Live reports. The woman says that she had to eat mainly bran flakes and cheese on toast during her last stay, despite her partner's mum claiming she had put in a lot of effort preparing for the holidays.Taking to Mumsnet, the woman said: "In-laws are [in their] early 70s, they're pretty wealthy but so TIGHT.

At Christmas their priority is booze. The last time we went to theirs for Christmas we stayed for a few days."MIL (mother-in-law) was banging on for weeks about all the prep she was doing and how she couldn't wait.

Told us explicitly not to bring a thing (we did still bring a few bits including a tub of chocolates we never saw again). But they had barely any food in the house.

Bottles and bottles of wine and sherry."But nothing to actually eat, and no Christmas treats, except for a bowl of about 4 humbugs (ironically) in the hallway.
