Shoppers have accused supermarkets of ripping off customers through the rest of the year after massive price cuts before Christmas.
The festive season saw a number of the main supermarkets selling vegetables, including big bags of potatoes, for just 15p. Among them was Lidl, from where we shared a photo of its discounted display, showing swede, sprouts, carrots, parsnips and more.
Both Tesco and Aldi had similar discounts, while Morrisons and Sainsbury's were selling some veg for 19p. The price of mince was also reduced at Lidl, down to £2.29 a pack, strengthening its position as the cheapest supermarket in our weekly price comparison, which has been tracking the cost of the same eight items since March 2022.
