Minor fire breaks out during aespa’s pre-recording for a music show

M Countdown.On May 16, TV music channel Mnet announced that a small fire broke out on set earlier that day after “a spark flew into the set located at the corner of the stage” while girl group aespa were recording a performance.According to the channel per MBC, the fire was quickly detected and extinguished, and all artists and audience members were safely evacuated with no reported injuries.“The recording of aespa’s comeback stage was completed today and will be broadcast with no issues.

No additional recording was carried out after the fire,” it said, adding that it is treating all M Countdown sets with flame retardant and examining its maintenance to prevent future issues.Shortly after, aespa’s label SM Entertainment released its own statement addressing the incident and sharing that member Winter will not be present during the show’s live broadcast due to her “poor condition”.

Her participation in their scheduled activities in the following days will be decided as she recovers.The group were on set to record a performance of their new single ‘Supernova’, which they dropped earlier this week.

The song is a pre-release single from their upcoming debut studio album ‘Armageddon’, which arrives on May 27 along with a music video for its title track of the same name.aespa’s upcoming record will include a total of ten tracks, including ‘Long Chat (#♥)’ and ‘Licorice’, for which they have since previewed in accompanying visuals.In other K-pop news, fellow girl group IVE unveiled the music video for their new single ‘Accendio’ earlier today.
