Metrolink services on the Oldham and Rochdale line had to be suspended this morning after a car was left on the tracks. Trams were unable to travel between Freehold and Rochdale town centre due to the vehicle which ended up on the track near the Westwood stop, with the disruption beginning around 7:15am this morning.

Pictures from the scene showed a white Renault Megane wedged on the track as stranded passengers walked around it. Services were resumed shortly before 8am. However, Metrolink say they are still experiencing some delays as services recover from the disruption this morning.

Passengers have also reported the first trams after the resumption as being extremely overcrowded. "We apologise for any inconvenience caused to your journey this morning," the Bee Network said on social media.
