MasterChef: The Professionals returns for its 15th year and judge Monica Galetti is back too.The Kiwi chef took a break last year to focus on her family and restaurant, but says that entering the TV kitchen once again was a “joyous” experience. “I missed it, it’s just wonderful to be back with good friends that I’ve known for many years and to discover new talent,” she says.

Monica will be reuniting with long-time judges Marcus Wareing and Gregg Wallace. And while she hasn’t noticed many changes, Marcus has gone grey! “But I think we all get that for a year working with Gregg,” she laughs. “I was missing Gregg’s jokes until the first day of filming.

Marcus and I never get the punchlines so we hear them over and over.” A new intake of talented chefs are facing Monica and Marcus’ culinary challenges this year.The finalists will be flying to Copenhagen for a “mindblowing” task. “It’s the journey of how the chefs get there and then go to one of the most iconic restaurants in the world.

I think you’ll see TV that we’ve never seen before,” Marcus says.The pair admit that they’re good at guessing who’ll win MasterChef: The Professionals early on in the competition. “We keep it between us and then we get really upset when they mess up,” Monica says. “If it was just me and Monica, then we’re good at predicting the winner, but because Gregg is in the mix, it f***s it all up a bit,” he laughs. “We have times where we do disagree but everyone’s entitled to their point of view.There are three votes and in the early days I’d be fighting like a cat in a bag but now it’s like, ‘Whatever.’” As for their biggest cookery peeves, the chefs get “really upset” by mistreated ingredients. “Someone has grown that and given care to bring that to.
