The American singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett has died aged 76. Best known for his 1970's hit Margaritaville, the singer died 'surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs,' on September 1, according to a statement on his website.
The singer had recently spent time in hospital, but an exact cause of death was not given. His other hits include Fins, Come Monday and Son of a Son of a Sailor. "Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1 surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs," the statement on his website read. "He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many." Writing in an Instagram story, British megastar Sir Elton said: “Jimmy Buffett was a unique and treasured entertainer. His fans adored him and he never let them down. “This is the saddest of news.
