Manchester United Women's goalkeeper Mary Earps has been voted BBC Women's Footballer of the Year, admitting she is 'truly honoured' to become the first-ever goalkeeper to scoop the award.
Earps, whose popularity with the British public has soared since she helped England win the 2022 European Championship, won the Golden Glove at this year's Women's World Cup in Australia.
Helping the Lionesses reach the final of the competition, she recorded three clean sheets. Though Sarina Wiegman's side were beaten 1-0 by Spain in the final in Sydney, Earps saved a second half penalty, denying Jenni Hermoso.
She also helped United achieve a second-placed finish in the Women's Super League (WSL) last season.
