Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been told Harry Kane cannot be allowed to run down his contract. It is understood Spurs owner Joe Lewis has instructed Levy to either sell Kane or renew his contract that expires next June.
Kane is not expected to sign a new deal with Tottenham. Kane, who turns 30 next week, is Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag's ideal striker target but the club have turned to Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta amid Levy's refusal to sell Kane to a Premier League club.
England captain Kane is believed to be demanding an annual salary of £30million, which would have to include incentives and image rights as the salary would be too steep for the majority of clubs.
