Manchester City Council are the latest authority in Greater Manchester to approve the Places for Everyone plan to build 175,000 homes in the wider region over the next two decades.

Manchester will build 60,000 homes as it joined eight other Greater Manchester councils in agreeing the modifications made to the Places for Everyone plan, which went through an eight month examination from government inspectors.

Another consultation on the modifications will start after this month (October) and go on for eight weeks, Manchester Town Hall heard.

The main modifications to the plan include the boundary changes to housing developments and the removal of the North of Irlam Station site - reducing the loss of green belt land.
