Manchester City have not approached Newcastle to buy Anthony Gordon. Gordon's future was plunged into uncertainty a few weeks ago as Newcastle scrambled to comply with Premier League financial rules, with reports that the England winger had been offered to Liverpool.
The Merseyside club do like the player but did not take Newcastle up on the offer, with plenty of options already in their attack.
The passing of the PSR deadline has not been enough to stop questions over Gordon's future and Premier League champions City have been dragged into the conversation about him.
Barring a dramatic U-turn, the Blues won't be buying him though and the Magpies have dismissed City's links to Gordon as "untrue" according to our sister paper in the north east, The Chronicle.
