Anthony Ralston is ready for anything the new season can throw at him after riding the Euro rollercoaster, writes Michael Gannon in America. The Celtic defender was thrust into the Scotland Euros set up over the summer and played in every game in Germany.
Ralston – along with the rest of the side – suffered a tough night against the hosts in the opener and was then punished for a short pass by Switzerland star Xherdan Shaqiri in the second game. The full back took flak – but turned it around with his gutsy second period display against the Swiss and then again in the heartbreaking Hungary clash.
Ralston dealt with the ups and downs – and he’s convinced it’ll make him stronger as a player. He said: “It’s about learning.
When you are in the game you can’t let it affect you because it’s sink or swim. I felt that’s what I tried to do, to help the team as much as possible.“It won’t be the last time there are hard moments in my career, because that is the nature of football, but it’s about reacting as best as you can.
