Man arrested after 'stolen cloned' Ford Fiesta stopped by traffic cops

A man has been arrested after specialist traffic cops stopped a stolen and cloned Ford Fiesta. Officers from GMP's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit 'boxed in' the car on St James Street in Heywood town centre last night (Sunday).

The driver, a 63-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He has been released under investigation.

The car, which was stolen last month from Rochdale, has now been returned to its owner. Cloning is when criminals copy the identity of another car by stealing or duplicating its registration plates.
