A man has been arrested after an alleged stabbing near a soup kitchen for the homeless in Glasgow city centre last night. Officers were alerted to the incident under the railway bridge at Glasgow Central on Argyle Street at around 8.40pm on Saturday.
A 22-year-old man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, Glasgow Live reports.An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow.Members of the Homeless Project Scotland have revealed they helped treat the injured man before emergency services attended the scene.
Colin McInness, chairman of the charity, said: “Between 8.30pm and 9pm last night, volunteers started setting up tables and hot food for the homeless and vulnerable.“There were about 200 people that had queued up to access food and sandwiches.
A man had walked past the soup kitchen wearing a white shirt. You could quite clearly see that there was blood oozing out his body all over his shirt.“He then collapsed on the ground outside the soup kitchen.
