Love Island's Sammy Root reveals dad's stark warning after winning show
ok.co.ukLove Island winner Sammy Root has revealed that his dad warned him about spending all the prize money.The 22-year-old took home a whopping £50,000 with his ex-girlfriend Jess Harding, after they won season 10 of the ITV2 in the summer of 2023.
Sammy and Jess both returned from Spain the the UK with £25,000 each, as the couple decided to split the prize money equally.The former project manager admitted that he quit his day job to appear on the show but has said that he may return to his career one day.
He has also confessed that he has been "sensible" with his prize money, after receiving a stark warning from his dad. Speaking to The Mirror, Sammy revealed he has received his share of the prize and has spent it wisely.
He confessed: "I have been careful because I am a very sensible person with my money as it is. Growing up, my dad would not let me throw it away. "So not much, I brought my mum a necklace when I got out and treated the family to a meal and stuff.
