Lockerbie Bombing Memorial targeted by twisted thief for second time in a week

A sick criminal has stolen money from a shrine to the Lockerbie Bombing victims, the second time in just a few days the site has been hit.The brazen crook targeted the scene on Wednesday morning, after the initial theft last Friday.

Money was stolen from the fundraiser for the tragedy which remains the biggest terror attack in British history, claiming the lives of 270 people.We told on Sunday how Police Scotland were investigating after a thief stole cash from the shrine on Friday.

It's understood officers have now identified the suspect and are trying to trace him.The latest theft from the Pan Am 103 Lockerbie Memorial Room at Tundergarth Church, near Lockerbie, took place at 8.40am on Wednesday, August 30, just five days after the initial sum of money was stolen.A security camera once again captured the incident.

The memorial room honours the 270 lives lost in the Lockerbie bombing on December 21, 1988.Donations are collected on behalf of Tundergarth Kirks Trust, who alongside the Pan Am 103 Lockerbie Legacy Foundation, work to keep Tundergarth Church open and raise funds to build a Memorial Museum on the iconic site.A spokesperson for the Trust said on Thursday morning: "We're shocked and saddened that the thief who stole money from our donations box last week, has once again returned and carried out the same crime. "We understand that Police Scotland has identified the suspect and officers are working to trace the person.
