A burglar who broke into homes in leafy Wilmslow and stole property worth thousands of pounds has been jailed. Lee Jones - who also fraudulently used a bank card he swiped in one break-in - was locked up for more than four years and 11 months after he admitted a series of charges, police said.
Jones, 46, of Waterside in Marple, Stockport, carried out two burglaries in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in April this year. He was sentenced by a judge at Chester Crown Court on Friday after previously pleading guilty to two counts of burglary and three counts of fraud by false representation. Jones, said Cheshire Police, targeted a property in Lacey Green, Wilmslow, just before 4pm on Tuesday 25 April, where he stole hundreds of pounds worth of items.
The owner received an alert from his Ring CCTV camera showing a man – later identified as Jones - carrying a brick in his rear garden.
Jones went off camera and a loud smash was heard. Around two minutes later, he left the property with a jewellery box through the rear patio door.
