A 'larger than life dad' and athlete died after taking part in an open water swimming race. David Grey had been taking part in a 750m race in Swansea Bay on the afternoon of Sunday (August 13) when tragedy struck.
The 72-year-old got into difficulty after he 'slowed' during the race and was quickly helped by medics on the beach before he passed away.
His daughter Debbie had been competing in the 1,500m race at the same event, reports WalesOnline. A huge emergency services presence responded to the incident, including an air ambulance and the RNLI, as David was being treated by members of the public on the beach.
