Lanarkshire man caught with thousands of pounds worth of cocaine

A Lanarkshire man was snared with more than £6,000 of cocaine in his car and home. Bryan Ballantyne, 45, was initially caught with 68 grams in his driver’s door in Rutherglen.Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that the value of the drugs recovered from the vehicle was £5,120.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Prosecutor Jessica McGowan said: “Digital scales were found in working order and blue polythene bags.“There were 100 snap bags and there were two bags containing 30 grams of white powder later confirmed to be cocaine in the living room.“These were valued at £600 each bringing the total amount of drugs recovered to be £6,320.”A further £300 in mixed cash notes was also found.This week, Ballantyne pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine on September 2 2021.His lawyer Jim Rhodes told the court that his client has not appeared in custody.Sentence was deferred pending background reports until August by Sheriff Gerard Bonnar.He said: “This is a very serious matter.”Ballantyne was granted bail meantime. *Don't miss the latest headlines
