The Labour leader and their Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election party candidate have made an affordable housing pledge upon a visit to a new Cambuslang estate on National Housing Day.Anas Sarwar and Michael Shanks visited Persimmons Homes's new build site at Ell Crescent in Cambuslang on Wednesday, September 13, to meet with developers on National Housing Day.After discussions with workers, the pair spoke exclusively to Lanarkshire Live about helping families during the cost of living crisis.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Housing remains a huge challenge for us across the country and that is going to hurt our fight against climate change but also challenging inequality.“That dream of home ownership is sadly dying for far too many families.

We need a proper housing strategy that is delivering for communities like here.“We want to build more affordable homes but also we need to make sure that we are not hammering people already in a cost of living crisis.
