Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is the 45th and current president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality. Trump was born and raised in the New York City borough of Queens, and received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School. He took charge of his family's real-estate business in 1971, renamed it The Trump Organization, and expanded its operations from Queens and Brooklyn into Manhattan.
The company built or renovated skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. Trump later started various side ventures, mostly by licensing his name. He owned the Miss Universe and Miss USA beauty pageants from 1996 to 2015, and produced and hosted The Apprentice, a reality television show, from 2003 to 2015. Forbes estimates his net worth to be $3.1 billion.
Kirkcudbright woman completes marathon hike of Scotland's mountains for charity
dailyrecord.co.ukA Kirkcudbright woman has just completed a marathon hike up Scotland’s hills and mountains in aid of charity. And now Jane McCartney is deservedly putting her feet up after climbing a total of 150,000 feet.
Her trek for Prostate Cancer UK began early this year and took her round Galloway and up to the country’s far north. Jane said: “In January 2024 I decided I would hike 150,000ft in ascent and last month I managed to complete it. “In doing the challenge I took in some Munros in Torridon, a few hills in the Outer Hebrides and even a few mounds on Orkney – as well as plenty of local hills. “It’s the equivalent to climbing Everest more than five and a half times and with sponsors’ gift aid I have raised £4,001.25 for Prostate Cancer UK.
Jane added: “The weather has been awful this year and whilst doing the challenge my first and last hills were both done in the rain! “I am also grateful to the EGGS section (Elderly Gentleman’s Golf Society) from Kirkcudbright Golf Club who held a joint fund raising night at the clubhouse with me, and we raised £1,240. “Thank you to everyone who sponsored me, and those that were anonymous.”
