Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

King Charles shares Balmoral home with unusual Scottish creature which the late Queen was fond of

King Charles is known to be a big animal lover, so much so that he has even opened up the doors of his Scottish Balmoral home to some of the wild animals that live on the sprawling estate.The monarch grew up alongside his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II's beloved corgis and is also an accomplished equestrian, a skill he showcased back in 2023 when he chose to ride on horseback in his first Trooping the Colour parade as monarch and during his polo playing career.However, much like the late Queen, his love of creatures does not just apply to domestic pets, he is also a big fan of wild animals too, having grown rather fond of the wildlife that lives nearby his home in Scotland.His Majesty is said to have developed an "infatuation" with the endangered red squirrel and is even thought to be sharing his home with the soprano pipistrelle bat – Scotland's most common bat!The Times reported in July that the monarch has plans to convert Balmoral into holiday homes but his project has been delayed due to bat roosts that were discovered on the site, which is where the creatures live, Hello!
