Kevin Thomson has revealed he’s held initial talks with Rangers top brass about a possible return to the club’s Auchenhowie HQ as part of a major summer overhaul.
Speaking in the latest episode of our Off the Record podcast, the former Ibrox stalwart says he has spoken with the club’s recently appointed CEO James Bisgrove and boss Michael Beale - as he awaits his next big management opportunity, 12 months after a title winning first ever season in the dugout at Kelty Hearts.
Thomson left a key role in the Rangers academy in charge of the B team to become Barry Ferguson’s successor at the ambitious Fife minnows.
He subsequently came close to landing the top job at Kilmarnock before being pipped at the post by Derek McInnes and also narrowly missed out on replacing Jack Ross at Dundee United. But the highly rated 38-year-old has been out of the professional game for the last 12 months while focussing on his own Kevin Thomson youth academy along with right hand man Kevin ‘Geordie’ McDonald..Now, following the departure of Rangers academy chief Craig Mulholland, Thomson could be in line for a surprise return to his old club as part of Bisrgove’s summer restructuring.
