Kate Garraway has made an deeply emotional speech about her late husband Derek Draper eight months after his death - as she picked up the National Television Award for best authored documentary for a film about the final year of his life.
The Good Morning Britain host told reporters afterwards that it felt "very, very strange" to be collecting the honour at the ceremony at The O2 in London, where she was joined by their two children, Darcey, 17 and Billy, 11.The ITV documentary saw off competition from films by David Beckham, Robbie Williams, Rhod Gilbert and Rose Ayling-Ellis.
Collecting the award, Kate said: "I really genuinely did not expect this, goodness me.This is a bittersweet one isn't it? It's very bitter to be here, with the gorgeous Darcey and Billy.
I promised them they didn't have to say anything. We're halfway through the first year of firsts really. "A first Easter and first birthdays, without Derek.
