Joe Hart reckons Celtic are getting a goalkeeper with the right mentality for the top if a deal for his old pal Kasper Schmeichel is confirmed. Record Sport understands that the Danish international has agreed a one-year deal to join the Premiership champions and link up with Brendan Rodgers once again after their FA Cup winning stint at Leicester City together.

Ironically, Schmeichel will replace Hart nearly two decades after they first faced each other before becoming Manchester City teammates.

Hart knows Schmeichel's makeup better than most, be it how his brain works or what he'll physically bring to the Hoops title defence and Champions League assault in the coming campaign.

And he'll always have a fondness for the one-time Falkirk loanee for the way he welcomed a positional rival to the Etihad after City bought Hart for £10,000 from Shrewsbury Town. "Kasper and I go way back, all the way to when we faced each other for the first time in February 2006, when I was playing for Shrewsbury and he was on loan at Bury from Manchester City," he told the BBC."Back then, we were just two teenagers playing our first few professional games in League Two, so it is pretty cool how things evolved for both of us over the course of our careers."At 37, he is the same age as me.
