Junior doctors to strike again over pay for five days just ahead of election
manchestereveningnews.co.ukJunior doctors in England will stage a strike from 7am on June 27 until 7am on July 2 over their long-running dispute with the government over pay, the British Medical Association (BMA) has announced.
The BMA has announced that it is taking action due to the lack of a credible new offer following fresh talks that began in mid-May.
The association is demanding a 35% pay increase to compensate for what it claims are 15 years of below-inflation pay rises. In the last financial year, junior doctors saw an average pay rise of nearly 9%.
However, the BMA abandoned discussions last year during which an additional 3% pay increase was being considered.
