Julie Goodyear's husband has opened up about her ongoing dementia battle, as he shares his heartbreak at watching her "fade away." The actress, who played barmaid Bet Lynch in Coronation Street, was diagnosed with dementia last year.
Following the news of her diagnosis, Julie, 81, and her husband Scott Brand, 55, took part in the Alzheimer's Society Manchester Memory Walk at Heaton Park.
Photos from the event saw Scott push his beloved wife around in a wheelchair while she cut the special event's ribbon. And now Scott has opened up about his wife's health battle for a new Alzheimer’s Society campaign.The new campaign includes a TV advert titled The Long Goodbye narrated by the popular actor Colin Firth.
Speaking about ahead of its launch, Scott said: "I miss the fun-loving wife that Julie had always been – the larger-than-life personality that brightened up everywhere she went, and the smile that lit up every room.
