Alan Burrows hopes Jimmy Thelin can buck the recent Aberdeen managerial trend and when he finally leaves Pittodrie he has been headhunted rather than sacked.The Dons’ manager’s office has had something of a revolving door in recent seasons with Stephen Glass, Jim Goodwin and Barry Robson all coming and going.
Swede Thelin was the man a large chunk of the Red Army wanted and chairman Dave Cormack went out and delivered him from Elfsborg.Burrows hopes the appointment of the 46-year-old can finally bring Aberdeen the success they crave and when their boss does leave then, this time, it will be on to bigger things.
Thelin said: “The nature of football is that guys who have significantly longer stays, particularly in the UK market, are very rare.
When managers do well it becomes harder to keep them. I would prefer to have a good manager for a short period of time than a poor or average person for a long time.“We don’t want it to be here today and gone tomorrow clearly but at the same time we would like success.
