Philippe Clement has to consider dropping James Tavernier against Celtic or change his role as it keeps costing Rangers. That's the Sportscene verdict after the Gers skipper was caught out by Daizen Maeda in a derby yet again.
After an attempted Tavernier clearance cannoned in off the Japanese after just seconds of last season's 3-3 draw at Ibrox, the Light Blues right-back was caught napping for the opener as Clement's side went down 3-0 at Parkhead to fall five points behind already. It could and should have been a wider margin of victory for the champions as they blew their rivals away yet again despite a strong start from the visitors.
Sportscene pundit Mark Wilson has urged Clement to address the situation with Tavernier continually failing to prevent Maeda punishing him, and that simply sticking with the same plan and hoping it eventually pays off is doing the team or the player no good."When you see him in this fixture, time and time again, it falls on the manager then to make a big decision.
He struggles in this fixture against Maeda and it was proven again today."His positional play - we've not shown in there - but over the top or through between him and Souttar, there's too much space and Maeda has a field day.
